Pan Mass Challenge - PMC (2 Days) 2018

The PMC Mission

Until we find a cure

The Pan-Mass Challenge raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. All are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. Our hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.  Click here to learn more about how Dana-Farber uses PMC funds.

Why Ride

Giving back never felt so good

Riding in the PMC is a way to channel physical, mental and emotional energy into something much greater than the athletic accomplishment that is gained by riding up to 192 miles. PMC cyclists use their strength to help those who cannot. With each mile pedaled, the PMC brings researchers closer to finding cures for various types of cancer that affect millions of people each year.

PMC cyclists are a family — a unified force working toward a common goal. The personal success achieved by riding in the PMC and raising money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is consistently described as unbeatable. PMC riders say it is the highlight of their summers. Nearly 75% of those who ride in the PMC are alumni who return annually with renewed enthusiasm and deeper commitments to both the ride and the goal.

PMC cyclists are athletes, weekend warriors, and folks with minimal cycling experience. Regardless of their physical condition, those who ride in the PMC go to the starting line with an emotional commitment to helping others, while joining in an effort much larger than themselves. In return, they experience a powerfully inspiring weekend, make new friends, and become a part of an extended family. PMCers ride because they can, for others who cannot.

2019 PMC Kids Hingham South Shore + Multiple Other Locations

Note: The Bicycle Link is proud to provide tech support to the PMC Kids S. Shore for the last 7 years and counting

PMC Kids Rides became an official PMC program in 2005 as a way to include young cyclists in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge mission raising money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The program engages youth in philanthropy, instills the value of working for the benefit of others, and promotes athletic fitness and physical activity.

The PMC Kids Rides Program offers children, parents, and neighbors an opportunity to work together to create individual bike-a-thons in neighborhoods, at schools, or in business complexes. These rides enable children between the ages of 3 and 15 to ride their bikes and solicit sponsors to donate money to cancer research.

Long Trail Century Ride to benefit VT Adaptive Ski & Sports

About The Ride - Support Disabled Sports

The Long Trail Century Ride is an event established through a partnership of Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, Killington Resort, the Lookout Tavern, and many local businesses in the Killington region. The goal of the annual event is to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling all while raising funds for the state's largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities.

Whether cycling on the 100-mile, 60-mile or 40-mile loops, or simply journeying near the Brewery on the 20-mile loop or the family-friendly 5K bike ride, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the Long Trail Century Ride. All courses start and finish at Long Trail Brewery, located on Route 4. The festivities continue for all after the ride at the brewery, where a BBQ menu will be prepared, live music and family entertainment, refreshments, and more will make this an event not to be missed.

Mountain Bike “Snowshed Session” at Killington Resort. In 2017 we welcomed mountain bikers to the event through our partnership with Killington Resort. We’re excited to offer a Saturday morning mountain bike Snowshed Session at again this year at Killington’s Snowshed Trails. Killington will open the lift at 9 a.m. for LTCR2018 participants, one hour before public access, and mountain bikers are encouraged to set 5 and 10 lap goals.

Party-only tickets are available at the door if you don’t want to cycle but want to enjoy the event and support adaptive sports.

Bike Fridays are our way of saying, “Thanks for riding your bike today.” We think it’s important to celebrate everyone who rides in Boston, and we want to make it easier for new riders to start commuting. On one Friday a month throughout the summer, we host a big party for cyclists at City Hall, and we make it easy for you to get here by bike.

On Bike Friday, you can join a bike commuter convoy from one of dozens of locations throughout the Boston metro area. Safe guided convoys with experienced ride leaders will follow a fixed schedule and route and finish together at City Hall Plaza in Boston. Because you rode your bike, you’ll get a free breakfast and coffee, set to music amid an expo at City Hall Plaza. Join a convoy, or just show up for the fun at City Hall Plaza. Going to work after the event is optional.
